As it seeks to increase its share of the Northern California milk market, Foster Farms Dairy is reinvigorating a brand familiar to generations of Sacramento-area residents: Crystal Creamery.

Crystal Creamery milk fills shelves at a Nugget Market in West Sacramento. Shoppers were upbeat about seeing the logo again, recalling it from time spent with Grandma. A marketing plan also ties the brand to Valley high-school sports.

Frank Otis, CEO of Crystal Creamery, took over at Foster Farms Dairy and began a changeover to a brand identity that left Valley shelves after a 2007 sale.

CEO Frank Otis talks to an employee at Crystal Creamery's processing plant in Modesto. Foster Farms, known for its chicken, has changed its dairy division to the former Sacramento-based brand.
